I don’t want to do it again
I often hear from cataract surgery patients that they don’t want to “ruin their surgery” and have to “do it again.”
Well, it turns out that you can’t have cataract surgery again, and any further surgery is usually much more involved and risky. For example, in the February edition of the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, Caroline Kerrison and colleagues published and article showing that secondary lens surgeries had a higher infection rate than primary cataract surgery.
So, definitely don’t rub the eye and ruin the surgery, because any further surgery is definitely not as easy as the first!
