Don’t Wear Those Glasses! Oh really?

I often hear a question after cataract surgery: can I wear my old glasses? When the question is asked, I start looking through what the patient should be seeing after surgery through their pre-op glasses and what that entails….

…but I am missing the main purpose of the question. What patients often mean with that question is, “will I hurt my eye and my surgery result by wearing my old glasses?”

Well here’s the good news! You really can’t cause any permanent damage to your eye by wearing glasses with an incorrect prescription. This is not only true for cataract patients; it goes for everyone!
