27 Lenses

I recently heard about a report of a person who had 27 contact lenses in one eye! Holy crow!

Some patients have eyelid anatomy that facilitates the retention of things like contact lenses. The fornix of the eyelid is where the eyelid is attached to the eyeball as the conjunctiva, the skin of the eyelid, reflects from the eyeball to the eyelid. The fornix is kind of a potential pocket between the eyeball and lid.

In some people, the fornix is REALLY deep… those are the kinds of situations in which many contact lenses can get stuck on the eyeball, tucked up into the “deep pocket.”
