Dryness at the end of the day

I often hear patients say that their vision is worse after a long day, even though their eye exam is normal. In many cases, the culprit isn’t permanent eye damage but issues with the tear film. The tear film on the surface of the eyeball is an essential part of the focusing apparatus of the eye, and, when it gets disturbed, vision suffers.

Blinking less while using computers and smartphones allows the tear film to become unstable, making vision fluctuate throughout the day. Taking regular breaks from screens/visually intense activity, blinking consciously, and using artificial tears when appropriate can often make a noticeable difference.
