Eye Infections
One of the most dreaded complications of eye surgery is an infection inside the eye. We do everything we can to prevent such infections, and, thankfully, these types of infections occur very rarely.
And the good news is that we are winning! According to a study published in JAMA Ophthalmology by Dr. Brian VanderBeek and colleagues in September 2024, the rate of these types of infections has gone down from 0.20% in the year 2000 to 0.05% in the year 2022. That’s a 75% reduction in infections!
