Is Faster Better?
Some people do procedures and surgeries faster than others. Sometimes the fast surgeons are incredibly gifted and have great outcomes. Sometimes, they do not.
While there are reasons not to loiter and extend surgery time in the eye, those reasons have to do with outcomes. At the end of the day, I argue that the outcome is what matters. Whether the surgery is done 50% faster or not, the outcome is what matters. If the surgery can be done faster with the same or better outcome, that’s a wonderful thing. But if a slower process makes the outcome better, that better outcome should take precedence, and things should be slowed down.
