Better 1 or 2?
One of the things that really gets some patients anxious is getting tested for glasses prescriptions. Often, people are unsure of what answers they should give if letters don’t look quite clear with either option presented. I have some tips for these situations. First, you should relax. If you answer in a non-optimal way and end up buying the wrong glasses from an eye doctor, many offices will re-check your prescription and fix things for no additional charge. Second, you should know that there are some times when we actually WANT you to see blurry letters so we know what is not good (and then can use that information to help figure out what IS good). Third, the best approach to reading blurry letters is to just give it your best shot and race through the letters giving your first instinct response. When you get letters wrong, we get good information as well. Giving it your best guess and being wrong is usually helpful; it is not a test to see if you can read all the letters on the chart correctly every time you try.
