Ocular Adverse Events after Vaccination

In the March 2023 edition of the journal Ophthalmology, Yohei Hashimoto and colleagues published a study about Covid-19 vaccination. They did a couple of different analyses, including a self-controlled case series analysis.

In the self-controlled case series analysis, they found that there was no increased risk of ocular adverse events after vaccination. They did another analysis that was not in 100% agreement with this, but that analysis did not handle confounding variables as well.

Despite the fact that the data are not as robust as I would like, overall, it seems that this article supports the idea that vaccines cause no problems in the eyes. Even though I didn’t really ever suspect that they would, it’s nice to have a study to back up that idea.
