As ophthalmologists, we pay attention to detail. I suppose it is true that most professionals do, but I was reading some forum posts from ophthalmologists about very subtle aspects of cataract surgery. They were discussing and debating over the course of thirty or forty posts, mainly focusing on different techniques that arguably would make no difference for long term outcomes. However, because of the mere possibility of occasional improvements for occasional patients, we strive to be better and better in our techniques. Even though it seems more academic than practical, I am very proud to be among such colleagues who are always pursuing improvement for our patients.
