Interesting Case of Vision Loss

Recently I was informed of a patient who was seen in an emergency room setting. At 2:00 AM, a nurse called an eye doctor stating that there was a teenager in the emergency room whose vision was very poor. It was reported as “no light perception,” which is the term that we use for the worst possible vision (as the name suggests, the patient cannot even tell if a bright light is being shone on their eye or not). When the eye doctor arrived, he found the patient with a bandage wrapped around the head covering the eyes. The patient confirmed he could not see. The eye doctor then asked the patient to remove the bandage. “Yea, now I can see.” What a cure!
