LASIK and eyelids

Recently, an ophthalmologist posted on a forum about a patient who had LASIK and then developed a scary looking post operative appearance. It looked as though the patient might have a serious infection in the eye. However, we who responded on the forum reassured the patient that it looked more like a flare up of eyelid-related corneal inflammation. It is amazing how often the eyelids can cause scary looking cornea problems! That is why I so often stress eyelid hygiene; the simplest thing you can do is a warm compress. I recommend warm compresses applied with shower temperature heat twice daily for at least 5 minutes per compress. It can save you and your doctor from a panic!
